Before mom left we had a going away dinner for her a traditional Nepali restaurant called Bhanchha Ghar. Uma, who joined us, said the dancing begins at about 8 p.m. I was a bit worried that Antara wouldn’t last that long, but boy was wrong. She is a very social child. We sat on the cushions on the floor and were served spicy potatoes, dhal bhat and other Nepali dishes. She really loves spicy food – like me. They also served us an extremely strong rice based alcholic beverage. I took one sip and ordered a glass of red wine. We had so much fun. Anu danced in the aisles and was a big hit among the other guests. When we left there was a huge rain storm. She passed out in my arms as we got in the cab. We were a bit nervous driving through the flooded streets in the dark, but made it to the hotel safely.
